A mini history lesson about Akron, Ohio
Akron was founded in 1825 by Simon Perkins, a land agent, and Paul Williams, a surveyor. They strategically placed the town at the highest point along the Ohio & Erie Canal, hence the name "Akron," derived from a Greek word meaning "high."
