Hey it’s Ray! I’m popping into your inbox to announce two events — one of which is happening tomorrow!
The team and I organize events to get the Everyday Akron community offline and connect in person. So we hope to see you at one or both of these upcoming events. 😊

Birding & Nature Photography (🆓)
Saturday, April 12, 8 — 10 a.m
This fan-favorite event is back! Join for a free, low-key bird watching and photography get-together led by Everyday Akron team members Megan and Joe! Open to folks of all skill levels and access needs.
Come at any time and join us at the Beaver Marsh for birdwatching and nature photography. Meet at the Ira Trailhead parking lot (3801 Riverview Rd., Peninsula) by 8 a.m. and join us on a walk to the Beaver Marsh. At 9:30 a.m., we'll head back to the parking lot. (Stay for all or part of the event!)
We'll make frequent stops for bird watching, photography lessons on phones/cameras, and binocular lessons. Bring your questions and the spirit to explore!
Enjoy meeting other Everyday Akron followers and learn:
🦅 Beginner bird enthusiasts will learn some of the types of birds local to the Akron area and CVNP
🤳 For photography beginners, you will hear about moving from fully automatic camera settings to using aperture priority, shutter priority, and program mode
📷 For more advanced photography hobbyists, we can talk about wildlife photography composition, lighting and any other more specific questions you might have
More details:
💫 Parking at Ira Trailhead is a dirt parking lot with 1 accessible parking spot and 1 van-accessible parking spot, as well as several other parking spots.
💫 Latrine style, all-gender restrooms available with a small concrete ramp to enter are available at the parking lot.
💫 The Ira Trailhead is a point on the Towpath Trail and has a crushed limestone path which can get muddy after rain.
💫 From the parking lot to the trail is about 200 yards, and then we’ll walk 0.3-miles to the Beaver Marsh's wooden boardwalk area.
💫 A few stone benches are on the Towpath before getting to the wooden boardwalk, which has two sets of benches.
Items to bring or wear:
Good boots/shoes for walking
Binoculars
Film or digital camera or even a phone camera
Pro tip: If you’re bringing a camera that can change lenses, the longer your lens focal length, the better!
And! Don’t forget a fully charged battery and an empty memory card.
Weather-related items (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, umbrella, scarf, etc.)
Water and snacks
Walking stick
⚡️ Event will be canceled in case of inclement weather and announced on Facebook.
